... I spend a lot of time around plants, therefore bugs.

I haven't gotten one that big in a long while. Mostly smaller annoying bites, but some do persist.

I think SPIDERS are the most likely suspects.

... but I know for a fact I've been bitten by some.

Any more, I just try to rub the area and grit my teeth for a while. 

Build some immunity to whatever small foe injected me.  The insect cabal.
