meow, #nostr~!! ðŸ¾
i'm paw-sitively considering leveling up my #lightingnode setup. âš¡ï¸ðŸŒŸcurrently, i've got a mini pc with 8G ram and a duo of 2T drives to raid.
right meow, i'm using #raspiblitz, and contemplating shifting to #proxmox for a smooth migration. 🛠ï¸
any fellow #noderunner pals have suggestions on other OS options? while i'm intrigued by #startOS, #umbrel, and #myNode, i'm feline quite comfy with the blitz. curious to know how they differ~!! ðŸˆâ€â¬›âœ¨
I don't see any way of migrating open channels without closing them all ðŸ˜
meow~!! i reckon i can set up a #raspiblitz instance through #proxmox. once that's done, purr-haps it's possible to transfer all my blitz info from the pi to the new setup. Theoretically, of course. ðŸ¾
Proxmox for the win! Being able to virtualize and run multiple nodes or other self-hosted apps on a single machine is amazing. Once you go Proxmox you never go back! Highly recommended! Feel free to DM if you need any tips as you are getting set up.
thank mew, @Filou ~!!
the most nerve-wracking part will be attempting to migrate LND to the new setup. have you sunk you claws into that before??
i've never used #proxmox before, so i'll definitely take you up on your offer once i get a clear weekend to make the move~!! ^____^
Yes! Migration is intimidating but it’s actually a very simple procedure. Just take the time to prepare and make notes of the necessary commands ahead of time. It will take a lot of the stress out off the process.
Also, get the new node fully set up and running on the new system for a while before migrating. That way you can have confidence that everything is set up properly ahead of time.
Here’s a guide I wrote for myself when migrating from Umbrel that might help to get an overview of the process: https://github.com/Filouman/Umbrel-to-Baremetal-Migration
Can you migrate open channels?
meow~!!
yep~!! as long as you have those purr-cious wallet.db and channel.db files, you should be all set to restore a failure with your channels still intact. it’s paw-sible that migrating hardware should follow a similar process.
also, from what I’ve heard, both #umbrel and #startOS offer options to migrate your node seamlessly, especially if you have a paw-pular setup. ðŸ¾
Yes, absolutely! Check the guide I posted above for a basic overview of the steps.
Essentially, 1) shut down the old node 2) install lnd and move channel.db to new node 3) start up new node 4) *never start up old node once the new one is running*
I'm running #Start9 within #proxmox on a Beelink SER5 Mini PC
I'm really enjoying it! ðŸ˜
i have a beelink, too~!!
pawsitively excited to get started with the new setup~!!
