 Pro-tip: If one of the reasons that you don’t post as frequently on #Mastodon is because you are worried about the “tone police,” remember: you do *not* have to engage with them. Instead, simply block them as soon as they identify themselves to you and keep on posting. :blobcatcoffee:

mute might work out better but yea.
 @603773e5 This is excellent advice. The "tone police" or "scolders" here are frustrated that the network they had has changed with the influx of many new users. They do not speak for everyone, and their suggestions can be overwrought, and distracting. There is no right way to do Mastodon, and there is nothing wrong with blocking or muting someone who you feel is not contributing in a positive way to your engagement here.
 @603773e5 If there are tone police, bring them to me, and I will crush them.
 @603773e5 your block list is as important as your follow list people. Sometimes you find people who are just knee jerk contradictory, and if your choices are letting them get you down so you stop posting or cutting them off (blocking) - the rest of us would rather you keep posting. Block for any reason.

Sorry, tone police? Who is that?
 @603773e5 @ee0ffdb8 This is excellent advice. Not everything in life merits a response.
 @603773e5 preëmptive block of people who even look like to e police
 @603773e5

I’m just happy someone’s reading!
 @603773e5 how dare you post something so salient and level-headed in these turbulent times
 @603773e5/s of course

If this policing goes on Musk will buy mastodon.social.
So be careful what you wish for.
 @603773e5 I've not run into this. is there an example.
Sorry to be lame; 2nd day.
 @603773e5

Treat it like a game! I make a "pew-pew" sound when I block/mute an account. There's a bunch of them out there, and I just got another one.
