 I've only used amethyst and only use my nsec to sign in when I update amethyst. That is it.. every other client I've tried out with a fresh nsec key

 I suppose that's smart, but it also sounds boring. I use different clients all the time because they all either have or lack features that others don't. I am also no one important at all and wouldn't be heartbroken if I lost access to this account.
