 People my wife knows are gushing about Kamala Harris because they think it’s fashionable. It’s like wearing a watch or saying your kid got into Princeton — something you do for social reasons. 

That’s the extent of it. Politics as fashion for the consequence-insulated. (Or so they think.)  
 LOL, meant to say wearing a “fancy” watch.  
 Would love to hear how your wife deals with it. Does it frustrate her that the friends don't seem to be logical? Or do they share other interests? 
 Sometimes she bites her tongue, sometimes gets into arguments. Lost a couple friends due to it.  
 They think it makes them look fashionable, but it just makes them look like mindless drones.
