Today’s outage is because of what we’ve been told is a bug within a closed source software.
If it were FOSS, it would be transparent, we would know the bug, the what and why. Maybe it could have even been audited before any damage was done.
With Foss the problem could potentially be solved collaboratively. Decentralization means less fragility and single points of failure.
I’ve been working closely to some open source projects the last year so learning some but today I’m seeing what has been theory to me actually come to life!
