 Don't you think it would have been easier for us to build a DHT that supports both Secp and Ed25519 and call it Pubky DHT and get all the hype from Nostr users and devs?

Imagine the bullshit we could have said: Lightning enabled DHT, the first p2p network with micro payments, value-for-value overlay network, smart contract routing, native schnorr support blah blah blah.

It would have had legendary hype, but also be total larping because that DHT would have stayed so small that it is not different from hardcoded list of relays. 

We don't do larping.

Mainline DHT with its BEP0044 is all we will ever get in seriousness. Take it or leave it.

 try convincing millions of Mainline nodes to support a new key type because Bitcoiners would like that.

Ain't no way in hell that will get adoption, it is basically the same as bootstraping new DHT.

Technically you will be on the same DHT but only like 100 nodes accept the new key, that is actually worse than separate DHT since it is hard to find these10.
