the funny archway/vine frame thing ... these and the side-panel of the stairwell are made of recycled wine barrels

took me about half an hour to get all my stuff down from the road... i sure as shit am gonna get fit living out here...

if you look closely at that photo of the mountain across from my place you can see there is a path carved into the side... i will definitely have to get out there... it's just down the caminho and down some stairs... the path goes a long way up too, i think, to another little village around the other side of the mountain
What's the rent like around those parts?
700/month for this place but this is really out of the way it's a "palheiro" or cottage

it's keeping my costs where they were, and i suspect i would have seen 50 euro more at least if i'd renewed, and it's so quiet, i can't begin to explain how beautifully quiet it is here

there is places out on the west on the actual southeast/eastern edge also around at the moment but nothing as out of the way as this one, when i saw it i was like, i bet this is amazing... and i very nearly stumbled on it withonly trying to locate it by hints in the photos, and i probably literally took a wrong left turn 25m down the path and missed it, but i got a good sense of the area out of that and then a few days later i got the call and teh guy was really cool too and this place... well, put it this way

i could smell the remnants of hippy drippy lentil soups in this kitchen, so, it's that kinda vibe... cheap, mostly natural, and out in the bush

i suppose there is probably more places like this, the dude who rented it to me was like, he gets loads of calls to rent this and similar places to people but he only wants short terms so i also got 6 months which fit in with my plans very nicely
