 @2c6a8385 I use an Ergodox. My F keys are the number row after pressing a momentary lay key, I acn get upto F24. Same thing with arrow keys but there is a toggle I can leave on if I'm playing an RTS. Numpad is the right half of the keyboard with either a hold down layer with my left hand or a toggle key on thr right half.
It's also helped me with FPS games as I can change number row 1-5 into 6-0 with a quick momentary key. Doom Eternal was a lot of fun to weapon switch like a boss. 
 @4e1481dc all those modifier keys sound like a regular keyboard but with extra steps 
 @2c6a8385 it is. I'm a tall guy with wide shoulders so split keyboards have kept the discomfort and pain away. This is them "close" together, normally more far apart.

 @4e1481dc I get the point of the split keyboard, I have a similar reasoning for not having a numpad (being tall but not wide). I'm more confused by the lack of certain keys and the advantage of having to access them through a modifier.
