o universo só pode estar me trollando.

"Researchers from Google recently issued a paper describing what they call a 'Habermas machine,' a LLM meant to help 'small groups find common ground while discussing divisive political issues' by iterating 'group statements that were based on the personal opinions and critiques from individual users, with the goal of maximizing group approval ratings.' Participants in their study 'consistently preferred' the machine-generated statements to those produced by humans in the group and helped reduce the diversity of opinion within the group, which researchers interpret as 'AI … finding common ground among dicussants with diverse views.'"

i was thinking about rob horning the other day, wonder if the new inquiry still exists. pretty sure he used to write for them
it does, but I'm quite certain he's substack only nowadays? I might be terribly wrong, tho, as usual.
his name is still there as editor, but his last article is from 2017, just checked.
They want to create and control ideology with AI?
pretty much so. even worse: literally consensus inc., mediated reality. next step shall be judicial arbitration. then legislating, who knows? fuck me twice.
Ah consensus yes. An important ingredient to enslave people along with mediated reality. Nice observation
That sounds both kinda fascinating and extremely disturbing. Especially since LLMs, in my experience, have a lot of trouble rephrasing or summarizing things I say in a way I would agree with. Maybe it's just the way I communicate, but I don't trust AI to speak for me at all.
I don't trust anyone to do it so, let alone a machine.
 Eita pleura! 🤨
