Nostr has a closed development team? How so?
👀
I'll pin here my note for follow the thread.
Kudos to all the devs that work in the open, but nostr protocol is not one of them. Commit access is closed and hidden. They call themselves "a council of priests". Yes the public is not allowed to see who the preists are. No other project pulls this crap. Fuck this dystopia. https://github.com/nostr-protocol
Have you tried clicking into the actual repositories? I see commits. https://image.nostr.build/e6374ce265475fd0dd4d4eb6c32766780382c39e1034788aaa575c2744819a64.jpg
Of course I have. I was the first contributor to nostr. But it doesnt tell you who has commit access, or in their words, "the council of priests" are. You cant call other stuff dystopian when you do this. Look in people: https://github.com/orgs/nostr-protocol/people
Everyone can make a commit, but it's the merging that's key here. We don't know who has merge access, right? That would be something we should know. Just like with Bitcoin Core, we know who the maintainers are, we should be able to see who the maintainers are with Nostr.
Yes, merge access should not be set to private.
Interesting. I believe @LeoWandersleb is here. Leo, care to chime in at all? Other devs?
Ok, I was surprised why you singled me out but apparently I'm the only one who's set to be a public member. @fiatjaf could we decide on a policy that all members have to be public or lose their membership? As mentioned elsewhere, apathy might play a role in not jumping when @melvincarvalho freaks out. I remember I was surprised when I was added as a member after very little contributions but took it as fiatjaf's high-trust way of just adding people to get the job done. I did read all the stuff for quite some while but now it's just too much and I rarely contribute at all. Might as well be removed as a member.
Oi! Dont shoot the messenger. Work in the open. Fuck that dystopia
You don't shoot the messenger neither! Apparently I'm the only one working in the open ;) I'm reluctant to share a picture of all the members even though it's pretty clear who most of them are but some might have been added and never cared to do anything with that privilege so ... lets give them a chance to step down before pushing harder. I think you are shooting way above the target here. Nothing is dystopian about the members and "private" might just be the default that the others never cared to change. Give it some days. https://image.nostr.build/bba069806be69c730a3665b92f7ae6765b54d435bed72554f8476a05209ad8cf.png
Yes, you are the only one working in the open. I didnt say otherwise. I was in fact going to praise you for it. Let's make that the norm. When I said "work in the open", I was not referring to you, but rather, the others. Wanting openness and transparency should be something everyone in nostr wants, including the core developers.
Did you make an apology for your gross exaggeration already? Couldn’t find it
