 I never digged into it so being honest, I don't even know how it works. But my impression is that you need to report your work every X months, is that correct? 

My biggest concern is that I like to have the freedom to dissapear for 3 months and come back to whatever random project I find. 

 3-page Every quarter. They are flexible, but it's about how much you deliver in the months you are working. Apply doesn't hurt.

also, just sayin, but a DND status on the network would be critical to multi-app notification control (hell, you might want to have all teh things in that bucket)

Anyways I recall thinking on an idividual notidications app while working on Nostros. It doesn't have to be centralized somewhere, it's just a listener in your phone that pings your notifications center where there is a match. 

 yes, but it obviously needs to be a protocol, and a new NIP is required so you don't have to set DND on every device

 The code is pretty much simple. I would say it's really trivial copy & paste it in other apps associated to an exposed API. 

For Nostr and WS, it will require the extra work of implementing WS handling, but nothing crazy to be honest. 

I had plans to implement it once Robosats starts heavily using Nostr notes for its features.
