What's the average lifespan of galvanized steel garden beds?

It depends on your soil pH, average wetness/soil drainage, thickness of the galvanizing, and if you can keep from scratching the coating.
Thank you. That's a great answer.
 I know metal pretty well.

In all but the really worst cases, it should last 5+ years. 20+ in other cases.
What's the best level of thickness to get close a 20+ year lifespan?
It depends on the application. In ground or above ground is different.
I'm just trying to add two more cherry tomato trees to my little indoor terrace garden. They're easy to grow and the little one loves them.
Oh. It should last years and years even with light gauge steel.
