 When bitcoin has no price, we will have won. Why measure gold's value by sand? Why measure the value of food by refuse?

 I'm not sure I agree. The fact that it has a price implies we value it (monetarily speaking). That value is essentially at the core of the networks security. If Bitcoin didn't have a price, then idk that Nakamoto consensus would work. 

 Agreed. Nothing would have worked out if it didn't have a price and caused lot of FOMO which is necessary for it's security.
