@a06f7cc1 I would need to know more, but that sounds like a bad default... When you reply he convention in the fediverse is the firt tag is the person you are replying to. All other tags follow it (and usually at the end.
Thats because you may be replying to a long thread chain as the last reply, in an attempt to preserve the chain, but may not be directly replying the last person who spoke.
If we removed the explicit tagging that sounds like it would cause a lot of confusion. I often get messages like that, without the tags visible and I cant always tell who they respond to.
@b05df304 i think we are annoyed by the very same thing :D
> I often get messages like that, without the tags visible and I cant always tell who they respond to.
this is what i mean! the data is there, because when composing a reply the right people are tagged there automatically. it just not renders when _displaying_ a post.
i just wondered if we can get like a small box above the post which shows you the recipients.
@a06f7cc1 Ohhh I see what you mean...
There may be a way to add the tags back but because the user doesnt control them their order and where they are placed would be arbitrary. Therefore it wouldnt convey the same information as when its manual like it is here.... that said I do agree that would still be better than no tags.
@b05df304 yeah, we have unfortunately no idea in which order the recipients are set on the sending servers side.
it's not super important of a feature request. it's just something other servers do which annoys me from time to time :)
@a06f7cc1 ills ee what I can do as I slowly dig into this code...
@b05df304 nice! as i said, not super important. it's a quality of live improvement :)
