I've never been hurt by someone having a pronoun in their bio. I'm literally in meetings every day with 1/3 of the people in there that have them beside their name in a Zoom or Teams meeting. It's never bothered me. I just don't care what someone wants to do with their name. There's much more important things to dwell on in this world.

That's a dishonest representation of the law. If you mis gender someone intentionally or not, you can be charged with a criminal offense, yes. But in court, the burden is on the accuser to prove you did so intentionally and with malicious intent. So far in Canada at least, I've not heard of anyone being charged, let alone convincted for doing it unintentionally. Intention is the key here. I'm not defending the law or the morality of doing this but let's be honest and not change the truth to fit our narrative.

Canada and the UK have "hate speech" laws put into place whether or not they have made arrests, but it's important to note that in Canada the Trudeau government seized bank accounts of those who donated to the trucker convoy protest of vaccine mandates in 2022. This act alone put Canada in the global spot light for tryannical government over-reach. Don't put it past psychopathic Liberal leaders to get triggered and act out...😝

I can attest that those things are not true for all of the folks who use pronouns. There may be a strong overlap between pronoun use and all the positions you mention, but in the end ppl have a right to put whatever they want after their names (or not, which is a fight that *is* in fact worth having).

Umm - wow. No, I just believe in free expression, even for folks that I don't agree with. Even for folks who respond to strangers on the internet with categorical statements and crazy accusations. I know some people who think they should be able to force others to use pronouns, and they are probably also the ones who would turn us in for not wearing masks, etc. I agree with you that the Venn diagram for those (who insist everyone use pronouns) and all the things you listed is probably an almost complete overlap. I'm in an organizational fight with one of those people right now. Giving in on this question feels almost existential to me - if I use pronouns to make other people safer, I'm part of a very serious problem. So I'm willing to fight on my right to *not* use them. But it's none of my business if they chose to use them. (And I also know some who use pronouns because they have been convinced that by doing so they're helping trans people. They either haven't thought much about it or are afraid of backlash within their social group. Off the top of my head I can think of at least half a dozen ppl I know in this category.)

That's just not how language works. You can't redefine basic grammar on the fly based in your personal preference and whim, otherwise communication becomes impossible. Or rather, let me qualify that: you CAN do all that. Just don't expect me to go with it, and even less demand punishment when I don't.

it‘s great that there is pushback against this nonsense. If you see how they butchered the german language … you can barely call that a natural language nowadays. It started with „women don’t feel themselves represented“ and now it‘s a mix of computer code and tongue twisters.
