Pornhub plans to block access to its website in Indiana, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, and Nebraska in response to age verification laws designed to prevent children from accessing adult websites. The website has now cut off access in more than half a dozen states in protest of similar age verification laws.
While users in these states can just use a VPN, the real scary part is the precedent these age verification laws present to end online anonymity. As the number of things requiring KYC ID spreads, it has chilling effects on free speech. And ironically, it is US politicians who are abusing minors with the pornographic pizzagate.
The only hope is that enough people get so pissed off they can’t masturbate without setting the VPN to such a far off location that it slows the videos, that eventually Americans can wake up to free speech. It’s sad, but I think “slow porn” stands a better chance of converting people than Nostr.
Kids are exposed to too much porn as it is. There has to be a better way to see that than KYC age verification tho
If kids are exposed to too much porn, what about exposure to Instagram, Facebook, Google trackers, AIs all over the internet, official fake news, official agendas, wars...
I think there is a simple solution. Make it legal to have porn sites with no ID (with obvious rules like no child porn) but restrict all porn sites to use the top level domain .porn
then make it simple for parents to disallow .porn on their kids' devices or their own and make all kids' devices unable to go there either.

lmao parenting has already been removed from the debate on porn KYC
Online KYC is waaaay beyond Pornhub already, the ship sailed and visited multiple ports already. Normies use their Facebook and Google IDs to login everywhere.
PornHub itself needs to die in a fire, its a dishonest, abusive, well-connected would-be monopolist having 24-7 tentacle sex with government agencies. Red State governors just mad they can't so much as cop a feel of it because they're not important.
I think blocking needs to happen so that Tor can go mainstream.
Porn access is about the only thing I know that will drive a normie to spend five minutes and learn about privacy.
monopolist? abusive? what? there's tons of other sites
Good. Porn is a scurge on society, and especially children. I oppose the ID. An outright ban on profiteering from porn would be better.
Everything is a scourge on society besides eating and working. Every decision people make that deviates from the prescribed life path is a "scourge on society." Premarital sex, alcohol, any and every drug, loud music even. All scourges on society.
So who gives a fuck about society? "Society" is a propaganda term invented by governments to get us to behave like cattle. The perfect member of society is a cog in a machine. The logical conclusion to prioritizing society is authoritarianism. Society, the real thing and not the propaganda term, is an emergent property of human socialization. It doesn't need to be directly managed.
Prioritize yourself and you family, that's all it takes. Porn is bad for you, so teach your kids not to watch it, don't let them watch it, and don't watch it yourself. If you don't even have the strength to do that then you've got no business deciding for the whole world what they should be doing.
Telling the world what to do and succeeding is a strength. You capitalists are full of contradictions because you can't think beyond step 1, maybe 2.
Seeking power over others is a character flaw, and indicator that a person is subhuman. People like this need to dangle from a rope.
