Wow. I think people are sleeping on how cool this is. This is a podcast 2.0 feed, containing a url callout for a video.

In podverse for example, the video plays just fine. This is like self hosted youtube channels. (OK granted it's using cloudflare for the CDN but it's very difficult to host video without a CDN these days peoperly).

So this video is fully boost able, just like a podcast or song.

This is probably obvious to lot of people out there, but this is a 💡moment for me.

I went to @Podverse on my phone to grab this link and the video is playing in a window while I type this.

It's super cool and an underutilized Podcasting 2.0 capability! Not sure many are aware of it as our space is audio dominated, but I'd love to see YouTubers make the move.

You know me, always trying to spread the good word of decentralized art via RSS. 😇
@Nate Johnivan tried to post this video on YouTube actually and it kept getting blocked even though it’s his band. So I asked @boobury if we could help and he hosted Nate’s video on his own set up to see how well it would work and the proof is in the pudding.

Fast forward a few months and Death by Lions just played the 2nd ever Satellite Skirmish.
Waaat, how is this not a bigger thing? I don't think people are aware that video is as supported as audio.

At least I definitely wasn't.

Video podcasts were huge over a decade ago but YouTube made it cheaper and easier for people.

I was a huge fan of twit.tv back in the day until it became about nothing but phones.
Problem is you've got centralized places like Pootube that'll handle the streaming and hosting of videos (at low quality, of course, but FREE) with a simple click or drag n' drop while RSS requires figuring it out on your own. Turns out, that's a big barrier for people lol
Yeah this is true. I feel bad for people who think 1080p on YT is 1080p for real. Compared to a decent blu ray, especially the audio is superior.
@frankiepaint and @marykateultra have been tracking music videos of tracks found on an rss feed. Frankiepaint pulled a bunch to use as preshow material for a Pc 2.0 concert we did back in April. There’s at least an hour for sure with more out where definitely. I think StevenB is or is planning on adding video to LNBeats so they’ll surface there.

Both @Øystein Berge and I are also wanting to be an audio podcast that can push mp4s thru live feeds. That way you can be a music podcast that is audio only, but with chapter magic you can load up a chapter from say example the Sat Skirmish and play a snippet of video.
Can't wait til this catches on so Homegrown Hits can fill shows with visually-served DeMu! 🫠
Agreed, and it goes further. Not saying every clip by any means but take for example there's something visual in a clip Lavish wants to show. Download the video, cut the clip, host it, and blast it thru the split kit. for based show and tell
