NASA updates meteor over New Jersey fireball sighting ========== NASA has updated its information on the fireball sighting over New Jersey. The meteor was seen on December 2, 2021, at around 7:16 p.m. EST. It was traveling at a speed of about 57,000 miles per hour and disintegrated about 22 miles above the Atlantic Ocean. The fireball was caused by a small asteroid entering Earth's atmosphere. NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office is currently analyzing data to determine the size of the asteroid and if any fragments reached the surface. Witnesses reported seeing a bright flash and hearing a sonic boom.
