Finally cancelled my cybertruck order because it’s too small vs the prototype and looks to have serious build quality issues
I was refunded $100, so let’s do some quick math
I initially made the pre order on 11/22/19
Bitcoin was trading at $7,242
So my $100 would have gotten me 1,383,000 sats
Today that’s worth $942
And to further add insult to injury the $100 I received back is worth $77.30 in today’s purchasing power.
So I lost 22.7% and my opportunity cost was +$842
Bitcoin and the dollar enforce this brutal reality on us everyday in both directions.
It’s best to constantly be aware of it and make the right decisions as best you can.
If I did this calculation for all my expenditures since 2015 I'd be standing on top of a very tall building

Did the same thing but kicker was I didn’t receive a refund due to some error and I never chased it. I ordered shortly after order banks showed up but cancelled maybe 2 years ago because the concept never grew on me and got tired of Elons over promise and under delivering of products

Yep. I have a bunch of reservations as a call option just in case FSD B4 Cybertruck. That said i didn't know about Bitcoin back then either, so no real loss unless I would have canceled at the bottom (I should have).
Now I will hold and see where FSD goes. If Bitcoin does what I think it will do it won't matter much anyways.
That's the sheer beauty of bitcoin, not only is it sound money, it makes you aware of it, and helps you think through how fiat is corrosive money.
If you do ever get one, watch out for the sharp edges. Some dude filmed himself almost losing a finger on the autoclosing frunk.
