#Bitaxe Hex 👀 Overpriced or nah? https://tinychiphub.com/products/bitaxe-hex-v303-3-th-s-powerfull-solo-bitcoin-miner
What's the estimated time for ROI?
8300 sats per month if you have 0.12 per kilowatt. This thing will never pay off itself. Lottery ticket to win a block
Then it is definitely overpriced.
Yeah, you can get S9 for $40 and downclock it lol
As long as you don't buy from D-Central in Canada. I had one of my worst experiences in purchasing after dealing with those posers.
Nah, I bought from kaboom. What’s happened with dcentral ? Broken machine ?
It's a long story of constant failures. The short version is they charged my card immediately, but didn't ship until three weeks later (after I brought it to their attention). It still took them a week or two to finally send it off. When I got it, the wifi dongle was the wrong one (physical connector didn't match). They spent another month getting me the correct dongle. Then the S9 booted straight to an error. They made multiple appointments with me for troubleshooting, then would no-show on me. Meanwhile, this took tons of emails back and forth, with D-central often taking a week or two to reply, including threatening me with slower response time if I didn't act happy about their mistakes. I'm pretty much soured on the idea of home mining after that. I would have been better off using the money to buy BTC, and my time spent doing almost anything else.
Damn, that’s sucks! Customer service in bitcoin industry not the top one unfortunately but we will get there 😉
What's the real-world power draw on an S9 at 3TH? Or whatever it's lowest setting is. I'm going to try building a Hex. It should be less than half that price. Still a loser on ROI, but cheaper gambling.
Here is mine set up https://m.primal.net/JgLn.jpg
If I'm reading that right, it's equivalent to 6 or 7 1366 Bitaxes. They'd use 72-84W for that same hashrate. BUT.....at a cost of $500-1000 instead of 40 bucks. The Hex would hit that low end. Still a lot of cash to un-ass for similar hashing, even factoring in the extra electricity cost. Operating cost difference would be about $15/month where I'm at. That's about 3 years before you break even on a Hex. I'm still gonna build one, though. 😂
So this is about the same wattage usage as the HEX. $40 dollars for one of these is way better of a price. Can you solo mine with it?
There’s no ROI in home mining with this kind of hash power. This is for the fun of it.
Yeap
Possibly slightly over priced. If you already have a miner, probalby not, but if you dont have one, why not.
Yeah I guess I am pass on this one.
What about noise?
It’s probably not loud at all
Considering you also need to get fans. If price is a consideration I’d think a space heater modded S9 would be the way to go.
Idk this is pretty sweet https://tinychiphub.com/cdn/shop/files/DSC01391.jpg?v=1712664874&width=1200
Fancy
Not expect a ROI with this kind of miners, it will be expensive if you compare with other kind of "scale", a heater built with a S9 will be better, but hey... this is sexy as fuck! I will continue to add this toys to learn and contribute but not as a financial hit.
