My main struggle as a parent is distinguishing between giving them
- what they need
- what they want
- what i wish I’d had
I do ok where there is overlap.
But it’s challenging for me to handle the outliers.
They individually want and need different things than i did as a kid.
I just want for them to define success for themselves and achieve it.
Tons of love is 99% of it, everything else is a rounding error
Those last two I feel are the toughest in our house, my wife & I are usually not one the same page as I felt like I had enough while she thinks they need more
When you have kids you realise that nobody is born a parent
I have the same struggle as a grandparent.
I'm going to use positive reinforcement in high school too
