There’s a theory that suggests that we sublimate our fears or desires through our escape mechanisms. I think post-apocalyptic storylines belie a deep desire to simplify things. 

 Is there any movie / show that you feel does a better job of making things more realistic? I guess it depends on the type of apocalypse  

 I thought World War Z gave an accurate depiction of how disorganized we might be
