 @a635bafb

I would like to be on the team of small farms, but sadly it doesn't feel like they are on my team anymore.

I thought of U-pick as a win-win, where we bypass whole-sellers and supermarkets, and the farmer charges me more than the whole-seller would give him, but I get a better price than in the supermarket.

Now U-pick prices are typically much higher than supermarket prices.

WTF!
 @87e0b6e2 Technically, this bill is about Local Meat Processing. But, I get what you're saying... There's pros & cons to U-Pick. It's not as if small scale farmers are getting rich from it. A lot of waste happens...

I can tell say that I'd much rather buy a local turkey for Thanksgiving by folks I know than buying one that's been to who knows where & handled by "x" amount of workers before it's bought frozen at the market.
