You may not like it, but this is how regular people think, even those who are open to Bitcoin https://i.nostr.build/oQT5EgEfjds6C4B6.jpg
Have fun staying a slave

This is why onboarding the masses will inevitably be mostly custodians with a login (e.g. alby, fountain, primal, strike, wallet of satoshi) The average person cannot adequately handle private keys that they have to take responsibility for. The average person wants to offload that responsibility to someone else that they can call when they forget their credentials. The average person still doesn't use a password manager. We have a long ways to go to make this more seamless, and generations of education to perform before this will change in a meaningful way.
Even if we most Bitcoiners won't like it, myself included, I would still prefer that people use good custodial service than not using Bitcoin at all. Most of Bitcoiner didn't jump to non-custodial wallet and running a node in the first year if not several years of using/experimenting with Bitcoin. Most user need to easily buy some sats from their Revolut, trading app or whatever, see the price moving up and down, get used to the terms and how to send and receive, buy some stuff, then maybe they will buy more, start to thing about security, independance, ... and will decide for a better solution, test it, get confortable, move a bit of sats, then more, evetually almost all beside daily spending sats stack. I think it's fine and even if some will always stick with custodial, as long as we all have the possibilty to do self-custodial without any restriction, interact with any custodial service without whitlisting address and shit, I'm fine with it.
Self custody is too complicated and too risky for the masses. This is why we need user friendly multisig solutions like Vultsig. No seed phrases and no hardware wallets and no need to be a technical expert. Create multisig vaults with any phone, tablet or laptop. No account or email required, open source and free. https://docs.vultisig.com/vultisig-user-actions/managing-your-vault/vault-backup
Unfortunately so true.
Makes my head hurt
There is no freedom without responsibilities
Oh for real I believe that! 😮💨
This accurate af. And these people will likely stay poor which makes sense right? Those who are responsible and can hold their own keys, run a node, ect will be rewarded with wealth, soveriegnty, and censorship resistent money for many years to come. This is a feature, not a bug
These are the same idiots who believe that increased state surveillance is acceptable, as they argue they have nothing to hide.
