Super Soldiers who don't need food would too cool and efficient for the Zionist regime. If they're going to engineer soldier's, it would be ones that need double the food and then Raytheon could make a deal with MacDonald's to supply the troops.
They'd be like the Jem'hadar but fatter and gayer.

And as always with Gene therapy: unforseen consequences. Chances are, they'd be extra fat even with minimal calorie intake due to the slowed/fucked metabolism. 

 The US military is not interested in saving cash. They actually go out of their way to spend money on stupid bullshit because they don't want congress to cut their budget (as if that would ever happen).
