 @07e2d0cd Commercial entities use it to advertise into the void.. But as a research scientist myself (and usually the one who does the hiring/firing/promoting) I can assure you, it does absolutely nothing to advance your career, and if it does anything it might even hurt it these days.

Just been informed that here are a few on BlueSky so I assume that is research scientists.
