It’s a microcosm of society. It’s the small group of people who march to their own drum beat. These are the people who are the originators, innovators, revolutionists, leaders, etc. Most people of the world follow. It was proven during the “pandemic.”

The point of social media is to connect with other people. It’s not a crime to share posts with the goal of generating interest or interaction. Also, there are very few original ideas or original thinkers for that matter. We are all pretty much just regurgitating various ideas, information, etc. that we have learned from other people.
I agree with you. My post isnt just about regurgitation of ideas on social media. It's true, most ideas are not unique. I repost others content. Its about those who just want likes or zaps and dont care about contributing to the community or discussion. Those only here for free bitcoin or popularity. More trying to call out those people subliminally.
Anyone who posts on nostr is contributing to the discussion and helping the community grow. It doesn’t matter if they are just here for free bitcoin or popularity. People need incentives to engage. I’m more concerned about the people who abuse the lack of censorship on nostr to spread hateful or downright abhorrent content. I don’t view the global feed for that reason. I wish that there was more concern about those issues rather than people being upset that more influencers are using nostr clients to promote themselves.
I never said they shouldn't do it. I said you can tell who does. Global is absolutely something I avoid. Was bad when I joined. Can't imagine what it is now. If anything will be the downfall of nostr, its global. Not sure of a good way we can maintain freedom while having some censorship here.
What issues? And how would you resolve them?
Not sure…I wish there was a way for people to filter their global feeds to avoid being exposed to certain type of content (e.g. NSFW). I’m not a developer and don’t understand the ins and outs of the nostr protocol, so I don’t know how feasible this is. I haven’t tried other clients yet, so I’m not sure if this feature is already available.
Exactly. I know on Amethyst you can filter by word. I filter out the word “nsfw”.
Pretty much how I would suggest. Give the client all kinds of power. Keep the relays mostly as they are. A lot of people avoid universe. I like it. Yes it’s full of crap. But occasionally a nugget. Visiting it is like mining for gold. Just in a sewer pipe, not a river.

Nope. Again, I’m old. I know right from wrong. Would not want young children anywhere near it. Or this app to be honest. Or x or instagram or Facebook.
Good points. I know right from wrong but gross content will affect my vibe. Maybe its just me. I like to keep it out of my mind entirely. Youre right about children. Wouldnt want mine anywhere near here. 😅
