Let me share my thoughts on a monetary equation and why "Money is energy".
You're welcome to comment, expand, correct :-)

The aphorism "Time is money" shows that money has something to do with time.
I think the connection should be proportional. If you invest more time, you should get more money.

The equation "Money = Time" seems to be incomplete. It's not sufficient to invest time to get money - you also need to invest work (e.g. mental work or physical work). More work means more money -> again a proportional connection. The same should apply to efficiency. That makes:

Money = Time × Work × Efficiency

You can replace Work with Energy (in physics Work / Energy have the same units).
However, energy is a state and describes the ability to perform work.
You would therefore have to calculate the energy used.
As you usually have less energy after the work than before, this means:
Used_Energy = Energy_before_work - Energy_after_work

Money = Time × Used_Energy × Efficiency

-> Money is energy
