Nah... you can do both. While this can work, lone wolfing like this can be pretty fucking lonely.
Applying this to myself, my biggest lifting gains came when I was running with some pro bodybuilders. We set/shared goals and then held each other accountable. I feel like this was written by someone that has never stepped foot inside of a gym at the very least.
That's not the same thing as just making an announcement.

I’d say it depends on the goal. Lifting and being healthy is a small goal that’s easy for others to support. Big goals should be kept secret and only revealed upon completion.
I think it also depends on who you tell. Inner circle, yeah. Every business acquaintance? Nah
