 Agree with everything except that liquid is a more sound approach. Can't comment on ark since it does not even exist.

Self custody is my red line. Any tradeoff that interferes with that is ngmi.

 Lightning is fast but seems better suited as an L3 on liquid than a proper L2 scaling solution. Most small nodes will lose significant coin to force closes or other problems (see ‘borked’ channels). The hot wallet risk is also a big problem (recent BTCPay exploit)
