 That was 04 though, not 44. After reinstalling and making sure to click "never ask again" it has more stopped. 
Strange. Updating the apps must have reset signing permissions.

 Ohh you need to install the Fdroid version of amethyst. The one you are using uses the Playstore to send notifications

 Note: I'm unable to disable tor, even if I uninstall orbot. Whenever I restart amethyst, it shows up as connected, and when I disconnect it, it never connects to the relays in clearnet. I had to reinstall to get amethyst to connect to relays without tor.

Press the little grey arrow, then mark "don't and again". Somehow Amber and Amethyst forget your already given permissions. See here:
