Is that Yellow Indian Woman bean in there? What’s the black and white swirly one? Are you swarming them for a landrace or trying to keep them separate ish?
I have been planting Carol Deppe beefy resilient bean for 5 years and I also plant other dry beans in other parts of the garden new crosses seem to happen every year, so far they all have been very tasty. This year the white bean appeared. 🤷🏻♂️I have never planted a white bean before. I love that! This year was my largest harvest of this type of bean, Almost 3 gallons from a 100 square foot bed. Here is description of the organic bean I planted: https://www.siskiyouseeds.com/products/beans-beefy-resiliant-grex
Omg it’s a tepary cross !!! I thought some looked tepary shaped! Overall this is intensely intriguing…
I like this bean enthusiasm.
I can be very enthused about beans 😁
I used to get this like warm hummus made of fava beans "fool" or "fül" or something, with good olive oil. So delicious. I've tried to make it but I can never get fava beans to cook nice like they did it. We lose so much to childhood and I have lost my fool.
Try soaking the beans overnight in water with some baking soda in it. Don’t cook in the baking soda solution, drain first. This is done to chickpeas to make falafel, etc. and makes them cook softer and faster.
I will try this! Now to source my beans. How much baking soda approx?
Hmm, not sure. I always eyeballed it and I never learned officially, so even though such and such amount worked for me it may not be optimized. Probably best to do a search. Ful / fool is a middle eastern dish I’ve heard of. Maybe a middle eastern cooking blog will say 🤔
