Four Indian companies among 400 sanctioned by US for 'enabling' Russia's war in Ukraine

On October 31, 2024, the US imposed sanctions on 398 firms, including four from India, for aiding Russia's war efforts in Ukraine. The sanctioned Indian companies are Ascend Aviation India Pvt. Ltd., Futrevo, Shreya Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd., and Mask Trans. The US Treasury accused these firms of supplying products and services that support Russia's military activities and help it evade sanctions. Futrevo allegedly supplied high-priority items for Orlan drones, while Shreya Life Sciences sent US-trademarked technology worth millions since 2023. Ascend Aviation reportedly made over 700 shipments to Russian firms, and Mask Trans supplied aviation components worth over $300,000. The US has expressed concerns over India's growing role as a transit hub for critical goods to Russia, with India becoming the second-largest supplier of restricted technologies to Russia after China. The sanctions are part of ongoing efforts to isolate Moscow since its invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
