Yes that is true. You can install bitcoin only firmware in previous models too. I believe that this one is different in SE plus it is limited edition, only 2013pcs available in this orange color.

 I believe that it's good that there are multiple open source options on the market and everyone can choose what fits the best to his/her needs.
