Yen tumbles to 153 against dollar on U.S. inflation, raising intervention risk

The yen sold off against the dollar in New York trading Wednesday after the latest U.S. inflation data, weakening to more than 153 yen versus the dollar, a level not seen since 1990. Analysts say a dollar might soon cost 155 yen if the Japanese government does not intervene as it did in 2022 to halt the decline.
