Today I ended a 15 year relationship It’s been a rough day but it’s for the best. I’m officially an android user! I’ve had an iPhone since the iPhone 3. I was one of the first in my town to get an iPhone. Our local cell provider didn’t even have them yet. We had a lot of great years together but it was time for a change. I would very much appreciate any tips, recommendations or pieces of advice for making the switch and getting the most out of my new phone. Thank you! 🫡 #asknostr
Gesture navigation is nice if not already enabled. No stupid buttons at the bottom of the screen.
First things first, download Amethyst.
It was the first thing I did! Haha
Next step Obtainium, FDroid, Zap Store & Aurora
Are these all in the Play store or do I have to learn to code
Homestly dont know, degoogled my phone and dont use the official play store. But try to google (app name) apk, download file and open. Should install app. Aurora is a play store mirror that you can login and use anon. Obtainium is an app manager that lets you download straight from github pages
Welcome, I was a previous blackberry user, I miss it. Did you Get a degoogled phone?
Welcome. Android ftw
Before you do all that, load GrapheneOS onto it.
What the heck is that
GrapheneOS is a de-googled Android OS with hardened security, and privacy centric features. Famously used recommended by @Snowden at some point. I really do recommend it if you have a compatible Pixel device. Theres a slight learning curve to get it setup but after that its easy. Its worth noting that you can still use Google apps and use Google Play Store with it, if you choose to. 👍 https://grapheneos.org/ Anyway, one step at a time. Takes a bit to get used to no FaceTime, iMessage etc.
I dont think Graphene works with all android
Best to stick with Pixel phones: > https://phi.company/daisy

What did you use your iPhone for? Androids do all the same stuff but sometimes the apps are different.
