Anyone know if it's possible to remote log in (screen share) to a Mac user who hasn't logged in before? Like, create a new user and then switch to that user? It seems like the first time configuration assistant blocks any screen sharing.
@db6c47ce I think the answer is no but I boosted in case someone can correct me
@db6c47ce you could def configure a first boot to do something tho I think with the Apple Configurator thing
@db6c47ce If you can authenticate to the Mac as a different user, then get to the login window you should be able to do a first login as the new account. I know I've done this with Apple Remote Desktop. i.e., create first user in setup assistant, create second user, connect in ARD as first account, log in first time for second account.
@db6c47ce I keep this thing in mind for future such situations. Will be of no use if you’re already in this spot and don’t have physical access to the machine. https://pikvm.org/
@db6c47ce I just tested this on a headless Mac mini I have, and yes, you can do this. You can even connect as the user to screen sharing (as long as you have it setup to allow all users, or explicitly add them). It will even walk you through initial setup wizard. I used a standard user for my test.
@db6c47ce You can set the user defaults of the new account to look like the setup assistant has been completed, so it won’t show: https://github.com/rtrouton/rtrouton_scripts/tree/main/rtrouton_scripts/disable_apple_icloud_data_privacy_diagnostic_touch_id_siri_activation_lock_and_screentime_pop_ups
