The firearms need to improve so that they can test the new body armour 

 How far off are we having an Ark or portable nuclear reactor that can power a mech suit with energy weapons? 

 It's notable that most of the best firearm designs were developed by John Browning a century ago. 

 I will take the "Dune" body armor shield. Likely already being developed for military applications.

 In addition to the flying cars we were promised, I'm still waiting for phasers and photon torpedoes.  I'm a little disappointed and am losing hope, TBH.
