#GM ! Been to this movie yesterday. It is a so called Body-Horror movie and may not be tolerable for all audiences, yet it powerfully addresses the disturbing realities of the business with youth (and its definition by men), particularly with young women within the broken entertainment industry, who are hunted, exploited, trafficked, and discarded..
The recent allegations surrounding #PDiddy and his friends! and protectors serve to underscore the grim narrative. This movie stands as profoundly unsettling reflection of our times, wrapped in perfect glossy visuals - highlighting the propaganda of the lifestyle of the rich and famous that permeates our society, the rampant narcissism among billionaires, and the möbius strip where victims can become perpetrators.
I celebrate director Coralie Fargeat for her work! The substance of the movie aligns stylistically with "The Menu" and, in its socially critical context, resonates with "The Square," "Triangle of Sadness," and "Poor Things" by Ruben Östlund—films I deeply admire and highly recommend.
Let me add, Narcissism is not ramping solely in between billionaires, it is ramping in our society in one on one connections. People confuse selfness with selfishness and entitlement...look at a fault to the outsid, but lack awareness of their own behaviours and taking accountability for the choices and paths they follow.
