Is George Orwell sexist, or simply right? https://i.nostr.build/JynS6KpICLOeSfBa.jpg
Good question. Different times. You should see what Darwin wrote. You want to avoid such stereotpyes. But I think the book had a narrator character too, I forget ...
Definitely different times. I’ve not read Darwin other than On the Origin of Species years ago, what did he have to say?
I'm an alfred russel wallace fan myself. Darwin wrote lots on women being inferior, esp. in Descent of Man. Needs a bit of search: "“Man is more courageous, pugnacious, and energetic than woman, and has a more inventive genius. His brain is absolutely larger" "The chief distinction in the intellectual powers of the two sexes is shewn by man attaining to a higher eminence, in whatever he takes up, than woman can attain—whether requiring deep thought, reason, or imagination, or merely the use of the senses and hands" "Thus man has ultimately become superior to woman. It is, indeed, fortunate that the law of the equal transmission of characters to both sexes has commonly prevailed throughout the whole class of mammals"
He can be sexist and right. Though in this particular case I wouldn't necessarily agree with him.
I abhor the 2018 “sexist” trope. Let’s judge on right or wrong. Get over the #metoo nonsense.
What does this have to do with #metoo ?
In the past, barbarians planted young women close to the roman empire's walls to give birth to a population that could fight against the empire Kids are one of the most important factors that makes the world richer. But it just exponentially increases the problems of a system based on debt. It's not strange that the Fiat world tries to implant the compliance mindset on fertile, less experienced women and weaponize them and implant on them completely dysfunctional ideologies and even embed the system in their own egos. It would be a great recipe to depopulate the world and keep the general wealth "threat" at bay
