Interesting chat between @LynAlden and Molly White. https://youtu.be/rrPyjKD7Kac
Well, that's a big reason why I was a silent nym for so long. If nobody knows what gender you are, they can't prejudge the code you PR'd.
Well I'm glad you're showing your true face now :-)
I still feel terrible I still haven't allocated free time to PR bitcoin core tho. That needs to happen.
No need to feel terrible, but pull requests are welcome. There's also hundreds of pull requests awaiting review and testing.
Maybe it would be more helpful if i reviewed and tested existing prs?
Yes!
In a way I'm not as glad, the generalized toxic comment of "women aren't on average technical enough" would be something of an insult if you actually knew what my background is, but I've learned to just outperform everyone and then they will shut up, is the way to go. 😉
Hard agree! Most of what I see from Molly is what is boosted of the Fediverse, so I didn't even realize that she talked directly to people in the bitcoin space, let alone had a real dialog with them. I gained a lot of respect for her after having watched this interview. nostr:nevent1qqsxlhjpqfyn4209muuqk42f0d20w6d4p99w9v4955zcf394c296jpsppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qgsgdp0taan9xwxadyc79nxl8svanu895yr8eyv0ytnss8p9tru047qrqsqqqqqpytqef4
It's really difficult for me to stay objective with people like that who are clearly seeking the toxicity and exasperating it.... I mean what does she expect to achieve? A collectivist utopia where everyone takes emotion-pills that force everyone to be agreeable? As if bitcoin as a protocol for open source peer to peer digital cash somehow depends on how we behave ourselves online? This nym might not be the best example of positivity but I will say God bless nostr:nprofile1qythwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnswf5k6ctv9ehx2ap0qyfhwumn8ghj7ur4wfcxcetsv9njuetn9uq32amnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwv3sk6atn9e5k7tcpzemhxue69uhhyetvv9uju6mpd4czuumfw3jj7qg3waehxw309a6hxtnjvfezucnfduhsz9nhwden5te0dehhxarj9ekkzmrfdchx7mnv9uq32amnwvaz7tmwdaehgunnv968vcfwdejhgtcpz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ukzcnvv5hx7un89uqsuamnwvaz7tmwdaejumr0dshsqg82krn4d5etsz7dge8nmpztspqrqvr45yl2hs6enfmzexk84wglfu6f2x98 for doing that work
Bitcoin conferences were something useless and safe to ignore from the beginning, but a couple of associates went to early ones. In the first one - the one Bruce Wagner did in NYC - a couple girlfriends were the only women present. Was that because Bitcoin was a "toxic", "sexist" environment, even when hardly anyone knew of Bitcoin, and most those who did were mocking it as useless, criminal, scam, et cetera? It was because women choose to ignore such things until there's fiat to gain from it and while the normie propaganda is against it. There's definitely money or something in making YouTube shows about sexism, such as that one. Like conferences, also safe to ignore and save the time for something else.👎
Talking about anything being "in" Bitcoin is a tacit admission that you've bought into a retarded money-worshipping cult and you're every bit as bad as the shitcoin grifters you feel so superior to. nostr:nevent1qqsxlhjpqfyn4209muuqk42f0d20w6d4p99w9v4955zcf394c296jpspz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsygyxsh477ejn8rwkjv0zen0ncxwe7rj6zpnujx8j9ecgrsj43786lqpsgqqqqqqsh39rdu
The video sets a good example: both genders are equally represented
