 @d72d5211 Perhaps they have interest which is different than yours. Perhaps their views are as important as yours. There is always a reason. Things would be so easy if the life was as simple as left is good, right is bad.
But surely, people can vote against their longterm interest. I have seen it many times. 
 @c0fad006 I'd love to be able to give people the benefit of the doubt... but, sadly, I'm convinced that many (possibly most) people simply don't have a valid understanding of the world we all live in. Which is terrifying to contemplate. 
 @d72d5211 I think no one really understands the big picture. Not possible. Complexity science etc. The best we humans can do is to have an approximation of the reality, aka ideology. It is hard to believe that others have other ideas but it is so none the less. 
 @c0fad006 yes, agreed re complexity. I do, however, talk to a lot of people... and I'm entirely confident that many people don't even think about the big picture. It's not something that they think concerns them. There's a strong correlation between them and those who think the 'right' agenda makes sense. It's deeply disturbing.
