My house's sewer bill can only be paid with physical check. They used to have some clunky online payment option too, but this year they removed it. Feels like 1950.
Have a storage unit that is the same way... Check only. So frustrating.
My rent is only payable by check or cash. Very annoying. With my old property manager I could pay online with my debit card, renew my lease online, and submit maintenance requests online.
You know what’s worse than not having a online payment option? Having an online payment option but they charge you an extra $2 convenience fee for using it.
Yeah my old property manager used Appfolio. They didn't charge a fee back then but I heard that they started doing to about a year or so ago. I would pay the extra $2 though rather than get dressed and drive across town to pay my rent. I also liked being able to make maintenance requests online and upload pictures with it so the maintenance guy knew what he was getting into ahead of time and could bring the right tools or parts. Maintenance at my current apartment building is abysmal. I've had no running water in my kitchen for several days and the maintenance guy's tools are all over my kitchen floor.
We're currently in Spain. We have no rental contract, pay cash on a month by month basis, we didn't pay a bond or security deposits, the rent is "all up" with no bills (except a gas bottle to fill at around €13 to heat the water). The agent didn't even kyc us. In fact, we're late every month and he's so chill, he couldn't give a shit. He knows we're honest and always down and pay. We fucking love it! 🤣🤣
I've found you can get around this problem by being your own sewer.
I have no clue how to even write a check
Try not to be so harsh. It’s not 1950…it’s at least 1964 in their mindsets 😆😆😆
Well that sucks! Hey Lyn not sure if you love movies but I just finished this one and it was amazing. https://image.nostr.build/5b8d559fc6496c3b217caba20cc806ca2a406cd81b9a5e5b54576ea6d76b474d.jpg
Winning!
Wow. Banks don't even take checks anymore in NZ. Not even from the US Treasury. Checks are not legal things anymore down here.
Sounds like an arbitrage opportunity.

I was dealing with the IRS a few years ago for some identity nonsense and they wanted me to fax them something. I asked the lady on the phone if she’d heard of this thing called email.
The dream of America is alive in Lyn’s sewer bill.
Kind of feels like the walk of shame
