So at New Design Congress, we have been trying to mirror the media archive I've developed since 2018 so that we can cut together a new documentary in Japan and Germany. This is a mostly static media bin, that will be catalogued and tagged and rarely modified.
And yet, after weeks of exploring options, it still doesn't work.
We've tried Resilio Sync, Syncthing, Nextcloud and local folder syncing with a WebDAV share and everything works terribly.
The p2p options are shockingly bad, capping out at < 1mb/sec despite setting up mirrors outside of Europe to account for the distance.
It remains utterly preposterous to me how impossible it is to move data between people in 2023 without using Dropbox/Google Drive or other awful services.

There's this thing called mail.
(I'm a courier, and we deliver physical drives for film industry, back and forth every day, and there's a good reason for it!)
