Oddbean new post about login | logout I was at a (firearms related) training this evening and someone said “If you don’t vote, you don’t have any right to complain” I brought up the 18th and 21st amendments and the fact that now the government just does whatever they want. I said “shall not be infringed” is constantly ignored without repercussions. I didn’t mention the King-Supreme Kangaroo courts or vexatious prosecution. @394b5c0e I had a similar interaction yesterday too: Coworker: "We should do what Warren Buffet says and not pay congress their salaries when the economy is bad, that'll fix things!" Me: "Not withstanding the fact they make inordinately more on insider trading(NTM bribes)? It's the same disingenuous argument he makes when he says his secretary pays more in taxes than him" Him: "Yes, but its the PRINCIPLE" *sigh*
