Oh MAAAAAAN I visited some friends in UP on a big road trip in my 20's decades ago and it was AMAZING. 

Hiked around Lake of the Clouds AND along the shores of Lake Superior where each little inlet the water was either Azure Blue or Malachite Green glittering in the sun. 

And the tasty pasties! UP people are SO nice. They will cook for you, make you endless cups of sweet milky tea. 

Almost sited our farm in UP.

 @d8e83438 I'm a native 'Yooper'. It IS a beautiful place. I've resettled in the Lower Peninsula, a few miles from Lk MI, and the ecotone is very similar.
