Interesting side-note, I just went through a whole ordeal to buy this cup of cold brew. The new coffee shop near my train station doesn’t give out disposable cups, and they charge a 25¢ deposit for a returnable cup, which they only give you if you provide them an email address or phone number. So I made them wait while I created a burner email from iCloud. 🙄 #coffeechain https://i.nostr.build/4yNTgv0F0dL3aBaM.jpg nostr:note12lvramdxq9h0ahr4lafw3zdddnqpt8xjrkqq8v7sf9fyymutdvrqdpwq62
I'm not gonna lie, I probably just would have gone to the nearest gas station instead of dealing with that shit. 😅
I almost left but they were a friendly bunch of young NPCs and I didn’t want to make them sad.
I guess to be fair, most people don't give them a lot of resistance when they ask for email or phone number.
Them: really? That is your email?
Me: That is the only email you are gonna get, take it or leave it.
Them: we won't spam you.
Me: Can you guarantee the hacker who inevitably steals your database won't spam me?
I told them they should just use QR codes, but they don’t run the program. That’s a different group of woke nerds. 😂
Is there only one coffee shop there?
No, but the one across the street sucks.
 😂

Check out simple login for burner emails:

Use duckduckgo email forwarders, with tutonota as main
Reminds me of the time i tried to use a btc atm then walked away after it said “phone number verification”
IT’S JUST A COFFEE WHY DO YOU NEED TO STORE MY PURCHASE HISTORY FOREVER
My response would either be 'Nah, fuck that' or 'let me hold up your line while I create a cup out of items I have on me.' Most likely the former, unless I'm *very* desperate for coffee.
Look into SimpleLogin with a custom domain. When I'm in these situations I just give any random words @mydomain.com and use the catch-all feature.

" Enabling catch-all on your domain allows you to use ANYTHING@my-domain.com as alias with ANYTHING being any word. The only limit is it has to have less than 128 characters. "
