I’m curious how blusky plans to monetize their user base? Or will they operate without profit for a decade?
Can a subscription cover that? https://www.theverge.com/2024/10/24/24278666/bluesky-working-on-premium-subscription
no need to monetize if the userbase is growing fast enough. It’s like paying with equity. Money is for buying attention.
Well, at some point the investors are going to want to some sort return on their investment. I doubt attention equity is going to appease them, unless there's some additional plan to use that attention to generate money.
it usually ends with selling the whole thing to the biggest fool or lobbyist
Probs similar to nostr. Lots of hobbyist infrastructure which can work quite well. The bigger question for me is how will its central registry handle state attack?
Ads and data collection; they'll have no other choice.
