 i think the core concept of HTTP was great, basic HTML is fine with a bit of styling with CSS, as a hypertext document retrieval system where everyone can run a server

there were much worse proposals 😀 for example, to extend teletext with some extra features for rendering images and vector graphics, and forms, leaving the rest under full control of the cable companies

but making it this monster ad-supported spyware operating-system-in-an-operating system yea 🤷‍♀️

 hah i too was fascinated with the idea of open, interconnected virtual worlds when i was young, also had some ideas like that (before wasm it was other sandboxes 🙂 ), maybe the idea i could be anything i couldn't be in the real world

nowadays i dunno, games and virtual worlds are everywhere, and i think we've been neglecting the actual world to such a degree, it lost its shine a bit
